Privacy Policy for TorrentMe

1. Information We Collect

We do not operate any servers, accounts, or analytics of our own, and we do not collect, store, or transmit your personal information to ourselves.

The App stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Torrent metadata you add (magnet links, .torrent files, download progress and resume data);
• Downloaded files;
• Your in-app settings (speed limits, schedule, proxy configuration, theme, tags, RSS feed URLs you add, and similar preferences);
• A single on-device flag recording whether you have purchased the remove-ads option.

This data never leaves your device except as part of the normal operation of the BitTorrent protocol described below, and is deleted when you clear the App's data or uninstall it.

2. The BitTorrent Protocol and Your IP Address

TorrentMe is a client for the open BitTorrent protocol. By design, the protocol shares your IP address and port with other participants, including peers you connect to, trackers announced by torrents you add, and the public distributed hash table (DHT). Other participants may log this information; this is inherent to how BitTorrent works everywhere and is outside our control. If you configure a proxy in the App's settings, peer and tracker traffic is routed through it.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App shows interstitial advertisements served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC. When an ad is requested, Google may collect and process device information such as your advertising ID, IP address, device model, and coarse location, and may use it for ad serving, frequency capping, fraud prevention, and (where permitted) personalisation. We do not receive this data.

• You can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ad personalisation in Android's settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on device).

Ads are interstitial only, always muted, shown at most once every 15 minutes and only after you complete an action — never on app open and never during a download. Where a rewarded ad is offered, it is entirely optional and only ever starts because you chose to start it.

If you purchase the remove-ads option, no ad requests are made and the AdMob SDK is not initialised.

3a. Purchases (Google Play Billing)

The remove-ads option is a one-off purchase processed entirely by Google Play Billing. Google handles the payment, and Google is the party that receives your payment details — we never see them. Google returns a purchase token to the App so it can confirm your entitlement.

• We operate no server, so the purchase token is never transmitted to us and is never stored by us. It is held by Google and by the Play Store app on your device.
• The only thing the App keeps is a local boolean flag meaning "ads are off". Nothing about your identity, payment method, or purchase history is stored by us.
• Because Google records the purchase against your Google account, "Restore purchase" works on any device where you sign in. If the purchase is refunded or revoked, Google reports that back and ads resume.
• Google Play's own handling of purchase data is governed by Google's privacy policy and the Google Play Terms of Service.

Google Play may list this as "purchase history" in the App's Data safety entry. That processing is Google's; we hold none of it.

3b. In-App Review (Google Play)

After your first completed download the App may ask, once, whether you would like to rate it, using the Google Play In-App Review API. The rating dialog is presented and handled entirely by the Play Store. We do not receive the rating, and the App cannot tell whether you rated it or dismissed the prompt. It is asked at most once.

3c. Clipboard Access

The App can offer to add a magnet link you have already copied. This is off until you switch it on in Settings → Network, and even when enabled:

• The clipboard is read only in response to an action you take, not automatically whenever the App comes to the foreground;
• Anything found is only ever offered to you in a dialog — the App never adds a torrent without you confirming;
• The content is examined on your device only. Clipboard content is never transmitted anywhere, never logged, and never stored beyond what is needed to show you that one prompt.

3d. RSS Feeds

If you configure RSS feed URLs, the App fetches those feeds directly from your device to the servers you chose. We operate no intermediary and receive no copy of the feed, its contents, or the fact that you requested it. The operator of a feed URL will see your IP address, exactly as it would for any other request from your device. Feed URLs are stored locally in your settings.

3e. LAN Remote Control

If the LAN remote feature is enabled — it is off by default — the App listens on your local network only, and access requires a token generated on your device. It is not reachable from the internet, and nothing about it is sent to us or to any third party.

3f. Crash Reporting: None

The App contains no crash-reporting SDK, no analytics SDK, and no telemetry of any kind. Not Crashlytics, not Sentry, not any alternative. No stack trace, usage event, screen view, session length, or diagnostic report is ever collected by us or sent to us.

If the App crashes, the only information the Developer may ever see is the aggregate, anonymised crash and ANR statistics that Google Play shows every developer in Android vitals for apps distributed through Play — which Google compiles from device-level reporting you control in Android's own settings, not from anything the App does. We cannot link any of it to you.

The App's source code is published so that this claim can be independently verified rather than taken on trust.

4. Permissions the App Uses

• Internet / network state — required to transfer torrent data and serve ads;
• Notifications — to show download progress and status;
• Foreground service — to keep transfers running reliably;
• Battery-optimisation exemption (optional, user-granted) — so downloads are not killed in the background;
• Camera (optional, user-granted) — requested only when you open the QR scanner, and used solely to read a magnet link from a QR code. Frames are processed on your device and are never stored, uploaded, or shared. Decline it and every other part of the App works as before.
• Storage location access (optional, user-granted) — when you choose where downloads should be saved, via Android's own folder picker. The App receives access to the folder you pick and nothing else.

The App does not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, SMS, call logs, health data, or installed-app list. The camera is requested only for QR scanning, as described above, and never for anything else.

5. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ad serving is configured through Google AdMob, which applies its own policies for ads.

6. Legal Bases and Your Rights (EEA/UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the limited processing described above is carried out by Google as an independent business (see Section 3) or occurs locally on your device. Because we do not hold your personal data, requests to access, correct, or delete personal data connected with advertising should be directed to Google via the links in Section 3. You can also exercise device-level controls (resetting the advertising ID, revoking permissions, clearing App data).

7. California Residents

We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA. Advertising-related processing is performed by Google; see Section 3 for controls.

8. Data Security and Retention

All App data is stored in the App's private storage on your device, protected by Android's application sandbox. It is retained until you remove the relevant torrent, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
