Privacy Policy for LatentSound
Effective Date: August 28, 2026 | Terms of Service
LatentSound ("the app") is a music creation studio developed by Latent Divergence ("we", "us"). The short version: everything you make stays on your device. The only thing that is not local is advertising.
1. What We Collect
We collect nothing ourselves. LatentSound has no account system, no analytics of our own, and no server of its own. Your music, recordings, and projects are never transmitted to us. The one third-party component that uses the network is advertising (section 6).
2. Your Audio and Projects
Recordings, imported audio, samples, and song projects are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. They are never uploaded, transmitted, or scanned by us or anyone else. Uninstalling the app deletes them.
3. Permissions and Why the App Asks for Them
- Microphone — requested only when you start a recording, and used only while the recording screen or the recording notification is active. Captured audio is written to a file on your device and nowhere else.
- Notifications — used solely to show transport controls during playback and recording status while recording, as Android requires for background audio.
- Vibrate — provides optional haptic feedback on instrument pads and keys.
4. Files You Import
When you pick an audio file to import, a copy is converted into the app's private storage so the app can play it reliably. The original file is not modified. Only import audio you have the rights to use.
5. Data Sharing
Audio leaves the app only when you explicitly use the Share action, and then only through the app you choose in the Android share sheet. We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to anyone.
6. Advertising (the One Thing That Is Not Local)
The app shows occasional full-screen ads served by Google AdMob — never during the first 15 minutes of use, at most one every 15 minutes, and never while you are playing or recording. AdMob is a third-party service and may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID), coarse device/network information, and ad-interaction data to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses data from partner apps. Where required (for example the EEA and UK), a consent form is shown before any ad loads, and you can revisit your choices at any time via Settings → Ad Privacy Options. You can also reset your advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.
7. Backups
The app opts out of Android cloud backup and device-transfer for its data, so your projects are never copied to cloud backup services by the system. Use the app's export and share features to move music off the device deliberately.
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
