Privacy Policy for CopyLayer

Overview

CopyLayer ("we," "our," or "the app") is an AI prompt management tool developed by Latent Divergence Studios. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

1.1 Data You Provide

• Prompts & Content: Text prompts you create, edit, and organize within the app. Stored locally only.
• Tags & Categories: Organizational labels you assign. Stored locally only.
• API Keys: Encrypted using AES-256-GCM via Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences and stored exclusively on your device.

1.2 Data Collected Automatically

• Clipboard History: Text copied to your clipboard may be temporarily stored locally (up to 50 entries). This data never leaves your device.
• Usage Statistics: Tracking of prompt usage frequency for in-app Analytics. Never transmitted externally.

1.3 Data We Do NOT Collect

• No personal information (name, email, phone, etc.) is collected by the app.
• No device identifiers or advertising IDs.
• No backend servers or cloud storage are used for your prompt data.

2. Third-Party AI Services

If you use the built-in AI testing feature, prompt text is sent to the provider you select (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, or custom). Data is sent only upon your explicit action and is transmitted via HTTPS. Please review each provider's privacy policy.

3. Security

• All data is stored locally using Room (SQLite) database.
• API keys are encrypted using AES-256-GCM with Android Keystore-backed keys.
• HTTPS is enforced for all network connections.
• Cloud backup and transfer are explicitly disabled to prevent data leakage.

4. Permissions & Accessibility

CopyLayer requires standard permissions like INTERNET for AI testing and SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW for the floating overlay. The optional Accessibility Service ("Auto-Paste") is user-initiated and does not read or transmit content from other apps.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

All data is under your control and can be deleted from the App Settings at any time. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all stored data from your device.
