Terms of Service for PDF Foundry

1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using PDF Foundry (formerly PDF Forge, "the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the application.
2. What PDF Foundry Is
PDF Foundry is a local-first, on-device document utility developed by Latent Divergence Studios ("we", "us", "our"). The application provides offline tools to view, merge, split, edit, reorder, compress, protect, unlock, extract text from, convert, watermark, sanitize, and digitally sign PDF documents. The app does not require a user account and is supported by occasional full-screen advertisements served by Google AdMob.
3. Ownership of Your Content
You retain full and complete ownership of all documents, images, signatures, annotations, and text processed or generated through PDF Foundry. We assert no intellectual property rights, licenses, or claims over your files or creative works. Because processing is executed locally on your device, we have neither access to nor custody of your documents.
4. User Responsibilities & Backups
You are solely responsible for maintaining backup copies of your original documents before performing destructive or irreversible modifications (such as compression, permanent page deletion, password protection, or metadata stripping). While PDF Foundry is engineered with rigorous data safeguards and atomic writes, you acknowledge that file operations should be verified upon export.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use PDF Foundry to process, forge, or distribute fraudulent documents, violate copyright or intellectual property rights of third parties, or attempt to decompile, reverse engineer, or redistribute the application except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
6. Advertisements
PDF Foundry is offered free of charge and is supported by occasional advertising served via Google AdMob. Ads are subject to strict presentation rules (minimum 15-minute intervals between interstitials and display only after task completion). You can manage consent choices and privacy settings at any time within the application.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
PDF Foundry is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that document conversions, compression ratios, or text extraction will be completely error-free for all non-standard or corrupted source files.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Latent Divergence Studios and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, document corruption, business interruption, or financial loss resulting from the use or inability to use the application.
9. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms occasionally. Continued use of the application following any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
