Privacy Policy for EvoWords
Effective Date: April 30, 2026 | Terms of Service
EvoWords ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users, particularly children. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in the EvoWords mobile application.
1. Our Offline-First Approach
EvoWords is designed as a fully offline educational tool. All data processing and storage happen exclusively on your device. We do not use external servers, and we do not transmit any data over the internet.
2. Information We Collect
EvoWords collects and stores only the information you enter directly into the app. This information is used strictly to provide the app's functionality and includes:
- Child's Name: Used solely to personalize prompts and educational content within the app.
- Birth Years: We ask for the parent's and child's birth year for age verification and to tailor the curriculum (e.g., Baby, Toddler, Preschool).
- Learning Progress: The app tracks word interactions to provide a balanced learning experience.
- Custom Content: Any photos or questions you add via the Studio Manager are stored in the app's private directory on your device.
We DO NOT collect:
- Voice or microphone data.
- Location data.
- Contacts or calendar information.
- Advertising identifiers or device IDs.
3. How Speech Works
EvoWords utilizes your device's built-in Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine. The app sends text strings (e.g., "What's this?") to the system engine, which converts it to audio on-device. No audio recordings are ever made, stored, or transmitted.
4. COPPA Compliance
EvoWords complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):
- Verifiable Parental Consent: Access to the app and data storage requires parental verification (Age Gate).
- No Third-Party Sharing: We do not share any data with third parties or analytics providers.
- No Targeted Advertising: EvoWords is completely ad-free.
- Data Control: Parents can view and delete all stored data at any time through the in-app Settings menu.
- Annual Renewal: Consent is reviewed annually per COPPA policy.
5. Security
All data is stored in app-private storage (Android Jetpack DataStore), which is protected by the Android operating system's security model. Other apps on the device cannot read it without root access.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Effective Date."
